Biography

At the Nordic World Ski Championships in Lahti in 1978 East German ski jumper Matthias Buse won the World Championship on the normal hill, and at the 1984 World Championships in team jumping in Engelberg, he won a silver medal with the East German team. In the 1977/78 Four Hills Tournament (Vierschanzentournee) he placed second. Buse competed at the 1984 Olympic Games in Sarajevo and finished 21st on the large hill.

Buse turned to youth coaching after his active career, but became unemployed after German re-unification. He was later elected vice-president of his home club VSC Klingenthal from 2003-06. He also became ski jumping keeper in the Vogtland Arena at Klingenthal.
