Biography

Dieter Meinel finished 33rd in both the 30 km and 50 km cross-country skiing events at the 1976 Innsbruck Winter Olympics, representing East Germany. In 1974 he won a gold medal with the East German 4x10 km relay team at the Falun World Championships. He retired directly after the Olympics, due to a sports injury. By occupation, Meinel was a policeman.
