Gerry Ciarcia was an American-born ice hockey player who became a naturalised Italian. A defenceman, he played in the NCAA with Bowdoin College, and between 1979-81 played in the Central Hockey League with Oklahoma City Stars, and Eastern Hockey League with Baltimore Clippers. After that he moved to Italy to play in the Italian League, where he spent the rest of his career.
Ciarcia played for Sportivi Ghiaccio Cortina (1981-83), Alleghe Hockey (1983-84), Asiago Hockey (1984-87), Hockey Club Merano (1987-88), Sporting Hockey Club Fassa (1988-90) and finally H.C. Milano Saima (1990-92). He won his only two Italian titles with Milano Saima. Ciarcia made his international début against The Netherlands in December 1981, and went on to represent Italy 100 times, scoring 12 goals. His last game for the national team was in 1987. He appeared at five World Championships between 1982-87, and played five matches in the 1984 Sarajevo Winter Olympics.
