Anatoly Bulakov was considered one of the best technical boxers of the Soviet Union in the 1950s. Domestically, Bulakov was nearly unbeatable as a flyweight, winning the Soviet title six times in a row from 1949-54. Internationally Bulakov won bronzes at the 1952 Olympics and 1953 European Championships. He also won gold in flyweight at the 1949 World Student Games. Bulakov finished his boxing career with 126 wins out of 130 bouts. After his boxing career Bulakov worked as a boxing coach in Moscow.
