Herberts Dāboliņš worked in the Latvian Army as a service instructor in the 6th infantry regiment. As a keen skier Dāboliņš represented ASK Rīga and was selected to compete at the 1936 Garmisch-Partenkirchen Olympics. He participated in cross-country skiing at the Games, finishing 58th in the 18 kilometres and 13th in the 4 × 10 kilometres relay. During World War II he left Latvia as a refugee and eventually moved to the United States. He was 92-years-old when he died in New York in November 2000.
