Phil Duprey was from Saranac Lake, attending Saranac Lake High School, where he captained the football and baseball team. He slid for many years, competing in three Winter Olympics. His biggest title was as part of the winning 4-man sled at the 1967 North American champonships. Duprey later worked a farm near Saranac Lake and worked some in construction. He was a consultant in the late 1980s to NASCAR driver Geoff Bodine who worked to build a better sled for American bobsledders, eventually coming up with the Bo-Dyn sled.
