Ice hockey forward Egon Engel played domestically with Wiener (Vienna) Eislauf-Verein. He helped them win the Austrian Championship from 1947-49. He also played for Austria at the 1947 World Championships, helping them to a bronze medal. As the Worlds doubled as the European Championships in that era, he also gained the European bronze medal. At the 1948 St. Moritz Winter Olympics the Austrian team finished seventh.
