George Farmer attended West Seattle High School and the University of Washington. When he competed at the 1964 Winter Olympics he was a graduate student at Washington. At the 1964 Innsbruck Olympics, Farmer, along with Olympic teammates Bill Marolt and Mike Hessel, were arrested for fighting with police after they allegedly stole a car. They were later acquitted.
