Aldo Federici was born and raised in Switzerland before moving to Italy in 1939 where he began to play ice hockey. On either side of the war Federici represented several teams in Milano in addition to making multiple appearances for the Italian national team. In 1948 he was part of the team that competed at the St. Moritz Olympics before he returned to the squad for the 1956 Cortina d’Ampezzo Games in Italy. From 1961 to 1976 he coached the national team including leading them at the 1964 Innsbruck Olympics. Federici also worked as the coach of Diavoli Milano from 1970 until 1979.
