Ice hockey forward Walter Feistritzer played domestically with Wiener (Vienna) Eislauf-Verein (1936-39), EK Engelmann Wien (Vienna) (1939-41), Mannheimer ERC (1941-43), KSG Brandenburg, and Berliner SC in Germany (1943-44). After World War II he again played with Wiener (Vienna) Eislauf-Verein. In 1940, Feistritzer won the German Championship with Engelmann Wien (Vienna).
Feistritzer also played for Austria at the 1938, 1947 and 1949 World Championships, helping them to a bronze medal in 1947. As the Worlds doubled as the European Championships in that era, he also gained the European bronze medal. After the Nazi German “Anschluss” he was forced to play for Germany and won the 1939 bronze medal at the Worlds (and also the Europeans). At the 1948 St. Moritz Winter Olympics the Austrian team finished seventh.
