John Garrison was one of the finest amateur hockey players of the 1930’s. In addition to his two Olympic successes, he played on the 1933 U.S. National team which won the World Championships in Prague, Czechoslovakia. It was his unassisted overtime goal which brought the U.S. a victory over Canada in the final game. Garrison had prepared for international play at Harvard where he played from 1928 through 1932, both as a forward and a defenseman. After his playing days were over, he continued in business but found time to coach the 1948 U.S. Olympic hockey team.
