In the slalom five days later, he was fourth in the first run but then did not finish the second run, catching a gate only 15 seconds into the race.
In 1984 Giorgi recorded his only World Cup podiums, with a third in the combined at the 3-Tre of Madonna di Campiglio in December 1983, and a second in the giant slalom at Oslo on 23 March 1984, beaten by the Austrian Hans Enn. The following year he placed 10th in the slalom at the 1985 Bormio World Championships.
Domestically, Giorgi won three Italian titles, two in giant slalom in 1982 and 1984 and one in slalom in 1987, the year in which he retired from competitive skiing.
