Edgar Grospiron

A three-time Olympian in freestyle moguls, including the demonstration year of 1988 when he finished third, Edgar Grospiron won the first Olympic gold medal in moguls in 1992, following that with a bronze in 1994. Grospiron was a three-time World Champion in moguls, winning that title in 1989, 1991, and 1995. On the World Cup circuit, Grospiron won 38 events and the seasonal World Cup titles in 1990, 1991, 1992, and 1994.

Grospiron retired after the 1995 season and went into coaching, motivational and performance improvement, as well as working in a consultative role for athletes. He became the director-general of the Annecy bid for the 2018 Olympic Winter Games, which lost out to PyeongChang, Korea. Grospiron was made a chevalier of the légion d’honneur in 1996. He has also made some preliminary steps towards fulfilling some political aspirations but through 2013 with not much success.
