Martin Hagen was US junior biathlon champion in 1973-75 and became one of the first juniors to compete on the US National Team. In 1978 he was awarded the Sven Johanson Award as the top US biathlete. Hagen was from Jackson Hole, Wyoming, and graduated from the University of Wyoming in 1978 with a degree in natural sciences. He later became a river guide for Barker-Ewing in the Jackson Hole area. Hagen has also become an accomplished sculptor and musician. His sculptures mostly depict wilderness and wildlife scenes.
