Canadian-born Michael Heidt was an ice hockey defender who competed at the 1992 Albertville Winter Olympics with the German team. In total, he won 48 international caps, scored eight goals, and played in two World Championships 1992 and 1996. In 1984 he won the Spengler Cup with Team Canada.
Heidt started his career in Canada with the Calgary Canucks (until 1981), Calgary Wranglers (1981-83), Los Angeles Kings (in the NHL from 1983-84) and some minor teams over the next two years. In 1986 he moved to Germany to play with SV Bayreuth (1986-88), EC Hedos München (1988), Schwenninger ERC (1988-90), SB Rosenheim (1990-92), Mannheimer ERC (1992-95), and EV Landshut (1995-98).
