Ice hockey forward Hermann Hinterstocker came out of a Bavarian ice hockey family – his brother Martin and Martin’s non-Olympian sons Martin and Benjamin were also hockey players. His own son and non-Olympian Martin also became a hockey player. Hinterstocker competed at the 1980 Lake Placid Winter Games and the 1975-79 World Championships, earning 76 caps. Domestically, Hinterstocker started his career with EV Rosenheim, and then moved to Düsseldorfer EG, Berliner SC, and finally ECD Iserlohn in the West German Bundesliga. Due to a shoulder injury, he retired at only 28-years-old.
