Sammy Goss was AAU flyweight champion in 1965 and won the AAUs as a bantamweight in 1968, prior to competing at the 1968 Olympics. Goss turned professional shortly after the Mexico City Games, winning his first bout by TKO over Henry Wickham on 20 February 1969. He had a long pro career, fighting through December 1981, when he was knocked out by Brian Baronet. Goss had a pro record of 43 wins (19 KO), 15 losses (7 by KO), and 3 draws, but he never fought for a major title.
