Biography

Japanese ice hockey player Atsuo Irie began his career with Furukawa in the late 1950s where he became a key player for the team over the next decade. Irie was soon recognised for his playing abilities with a call-up to the national team for the 1960 Squaw Valley Olympics, playing in five matches and scoring three goals. Four years later he made his second appearance at the Olympics, this time playing in eight matches at the 1964 Innsbruck Games.
