Biography

Louis Self was US Golden Gloves Champion as a featherweight in 1971-72 and went to the 1972 Olympics with an amateur record of 29 wins and 4 losses. At the time he had no international experience and lost a close decision. Self turned professional in 1973, and had a very sporadic pro career, fighting once in 1973, once in 1977, and three times in 1980, finishing with a pro record of 3 wins and 2 losses. He then became a minister with Majestic Praise Ministries, serving as an advocate for wayward youth in the juvenile court system.
