Following the collapse of the Soviet Union she briefly represented the Unified Team, including an appearance at the 1992 World Junior Championships where she won the bronze medal. Laukhova then competed for Russia, winning bronze in the hurdles at the Summer Universiade in both 1995 and 1997.
At the 1998 European Indoor Championships in Spain Laukhova won the silver medal in the 60 metres hurdles. She followed this by reaching the semi-finals in the 100 metres hurdles at the 1999 World Championships and the 2000 Sydney Olympics.
