Austrian speed skater Erich Korbel was disqualified over 1,500 metres at the 1964 Innsbruck Winter Olympics. Four years later at Grenoble he came 44th over 1,500 metres and 37th over 5,000 metres. Korbel won two silvers and one bronze at Austrian national championships. He later turned to coaching.
