During the 1960s Slovenian ice hockey player Marijan Kristan won eight consecutive league titles with HK Jesenice. Kristan missed out on a chance to win a ninth title when he was called up to do his military service. During this time he also played in more than a dozen matches for the Yugoslav national team, including representing them at the 1964 Innsbruck Olympics.
