Biography

.Victor Kronig made his début in the Swiss cross-country skiing national championships in 1954, when he placed ninth in the 18 kilometers. The following year, he won a silver medal in the 15 kilometers, and then began competing in the Nordic combined championships as well, taking bronze individually in 1956. That same year, he was selected to represent Switzerland in cross-country skiing at the Cortina d’Ampezzo Games, where he was 33rd in the 15 kilometers and seventh in the relay, alongside Werner Zwingli, Fritz Kocher, and Marcel Huguenin.

In 1958, Kronig was ninth over 15 kilometers at the national championships, but won bronze again in the individual Nordic combined. The following year, he won his only national cross-country skiing title by capturing the 15 kilometers, just missing another Nordic combined podium by finishing fourth. In 1960, however, he won the Nordic combined title, as well as bronze in the cross-country ski relay, while coming in fifth over 15 kilometers. He retired from active competition shortly thereafter. His brother Alfred was also an Olympic cross-country skier.
