Austrian ice hockey right-winger Walter, brother of Rudolf König and uncle of non-Olympian Christoph König, participated in the 1968 Grenoble Winter Olympics. His team was eliminated in the group stage. In total, Walter König won 30 international caps. Domestically, he played with Klagenfurter AC helping them win 11 national titles. He later turned to coaching.
