Yelena Yelesina was a high jumper who won the gold medal at the 2000 Sydney Olympics. She was a two-time silver medalist in the event at the World Championships, taking second in 1991 and 1999. Yelesina also won silver at the 2003 World Indoor Championships. She added bronze medals at the 1990 European Championships and the 1992 and 1998 European Indoor Championships.
