Hazel Clark-Riley was a middle-distance runner who ran the 800 metres at the 2000, 2004, and 2008 Olympics. Her sister, Joetta Clark-Diggs, and sister-in-law, Jearl Miles-Clark, both competed in track at the Olympics. The three famously swept the qualifying positions for the 800 at the 2000 US Final Olympic Trials.
Hazel Clark-Riley attended the University of Florida, winning the 1998 NCAA title at 800 metres. She was inducted into the University of Florida Athletic Hall of Fame in 2012. Clark-Riley won six US national titles. In both 2005 and 2006 she was world ranked in the top 10.
Born Hazel Clark, she later divorced her first husband, but married a Bermudian, Shane McIlwain. Clark became a spokesperson and director of global sales and tourism for Bermuda, and served as Director of Sports Development at the Bermuda Tourism Authority.
