Henri Mayer had a very long career as a professional, racing from around 1900 to at least 1924, when he finished third at the German professional sprint championship. Mayer’s major title was the 1904 Grand Prix de Paris. He also won the Grand Prix d’Angers in the sprint in 1904 and 1907, and won the Grand Prix de l’UVF in 1905. He had three podium finishes at the World Championships, placing third in 1904-05 and second in 1907.
Mayer competed at the 1900 Paris Olympics, reaching the fourth round in the professional sprint, losing out in the heats of the professional tandem sprint alongside Italian Umberto Ferrari, and participating in the professional team race and the points race.
