Johann Lichnowski was in the German minority in Czechoslovakia and played for Troppauer EV, Troppau being the German name for Opava. His career lasted frrom 1925-41 with Troppauer. After the 1928 Olympics he also took part in the 1929 European Championships, winning a gold medal. He was capped five times for Czechoslovakia.
