Biography

Mike Kinkade was a catcher / outfielder who helped the USA win a baseball gold medal at the 2000 Sydney Olympics. Kinkade played in college at Washington State University and starred in the summer of 1994 for the Falmouth Commodores of the Cape Cod Baseball League. Kinkade was selected by the Milwaukee Brewers in the 19th round of the 1994 Major League Baseball (MLB) Draft. However, he returned to college and the Brewers then selected him again in the 1995 MLB Draft.

Kinkade played six years in the majors, with the New York Mets from 1998-2000, the Baltimore Orioles from 2000-01, and the Los Angeles Dodgers from 2002-03. He then played a year in Japan with the Hanshin Tigers in 2004. Kinkade finished his playing career with several seasons in the minor leagues, playing for the Buffalo Bisons, Albuquerque Isotopes, Scranton-Wilkes Barre Yankees, and the Trenton Thunder. He signed a minor league contract with the Seattle Mariners in 2008 but retired during that season while playing with the Tacoma Rainiers.

Kinkade later became a coach, returning to college where he has been an assistant coach at Cal State Bakersfield.
