Eduardo Dibós studied in England and later became a successful businessman and politician. He served as Mayor of Lima three times and also became Minister for Development and Public Works. In business he was President of several banks. Dibós was President of the Peruvian Olympic Committee from 1933-41 and was co-opted onto the IOC in May 1958. He resigned as an IOC Member in May 1982, was made an Honorary Member, succeeded by his son, Ivan Dibós.
