Jorge Gómez de Parada was from a wealthy family of landowners in Mexico, with polo fields and tennis courts at his family home, which later became the palatial palace of the Russian Ambassador. Gómez was educated at Stonyhurst College in England and became a lawyer. He played football internationally for Mexico and served as President of the Mexico polo and football federations. Gómez was co-opted onto the IOC in July 1924 but served for a bit less than three years and never attended an IOC Session.
