Niels Holbeck was co-opted onto the IOC in 1899 and served through December 1906. During his tenure he never attended an IOC Session. Holbeck was a military man, serving as head of the Army Military Academy, and retiring in 1930 as Colonel-in-Chief of the 2nd Field Artillery Regiment. Holbeck was President of the Danish Sports Association (1899-1901), promoting Nordic interest in sports.
