Kim Taik-Soo was a lawyer by profession who elected three times to the Korean National Assembly. In sports administration he was President of the Korean Olympic Committee from 1971-79 and then became Honorary President. He started out in sports management in 1961 as President of the Korean Sports Federation for Kyung-nam Province. He later served as President of the Korean Amateur Boxing Federation, the Korean Amateur Sports Federation, and he was a member of the Executive Board of the Association Internationale de Boxe Amateur (AIBA) starting in 1975. Kim was co-opted onto the IOC in 1977 and served until his death in 1983. He was awarded the Olympic Order in Silver posthumously.
