Iesato, Prince Tokugawa was President of the Japanese House of Peers from 1903-30 and became an important figure in Japan’s successful bid to host the 1940 Olympics, which they subsequently abandoned. Prince Tokugawa was named President of the Organizing Committee and in July 1936, was co-opted onto the IOC, although he had no significant sporting interests. He resigned from the IOC in June 1939, having never attended an IOC Session, and died almost exactly one year later.
