Biography

Jean Wilson, born in Scotland, had a very short skating career, as she died of a muscular disease in 1933, aged only 23. In 1931, she was North American indoor champion. In 1932, she took part in the demonstration speed skating events held at the Lake Placid Winter Olympics, winning the 500 metres in 58.0 seconds, faster than the official World Record. Her time would not be recognized, because the events were held in the North American packstyle format. Wilson also placed second in the 1,500 m event, close behind Kit Klein.
