Jack DeFalco was a fireman from Ottawa when he competed in the 1932 sled dog racing event. He made his début as a racing driver at the 1931 International Derby. DeFalco raced at Lake Placid with a team made up of five of his own dogs, and four dogs loaned to him by Shorty Russick of Flin Flon, Manitoba, another competitor in Lake Placid. In 1935 DeFalco was named the President of the Ottawa Valley Sled Dog Racing Association. DeFalco later became a long-time owner of the Ottawa Beach Motel in his long-time hometown.
