Jeff Lacy was a boxer who competed at the 2000 Sydney Olympics but went on to a top career as a professional. Lacy had an amateur record of 209 wins and 12 losses before turning pro and winning his professional début on 2 February 2001 against Jerald Lowe by a first-round knockout.
Lacy won the WBC Continental Americas super-middleweight title in 2003 and later that year added the USBA and NABA super-middleweight belts. He also claimed the IBF super-middleweight title in 2004 and the IBO super-middleweight crown in 2005. After defending those titles several times, and standing undefeated after 22 fights, he was beaten in March 2006 by Joe Calzaghe. The second loss of his career came in November 2008 against Jermain Taylor. He later lost to Roy Jones, Jr. by a 10 round TKO in August 2009.
Injuries to his shoulder caused Lacy to step away from the ring but he returned in 2013, and fought through 2015, but never returned to his early form, losing five of his final eight fights. He retired after a TKO loss in January 2015 to Sullivan Barrera. Lacy finished his professional career with a record of 27 wins (18 by KO) and 6 losses.
