Brian Viloria was a boxer who competed in light-flyweight at the 2000 Sydney Olympics. He was the 1999 World Champion, US Champion, and National Golden Gloves Champion, and finished his amateur career with a record of 230 wins and 8 losses. While boxing as an amateur he attended Northern Michigan University.
Viloria turned professional after the Olympics and made his pro début in May 2001, defeating Benjamin Esobia. He won his first 17 fights as a pro. Fighting as both a flyweight and light-flyweight he had a storied career. He was WBC light-flyweight world champion from 2005-06, IBF light-flyweight world champion from 2009-10, WBO flyweight world champion from 2011-13, and WBA flyweight world champion from 2012-13.
Viloria fought through 2018, losing a unanimous decision against Artem Dalakian for the WBA flyweight crown, and then retiring after that bout. Viloria’s professional record was 38 wins (23 by KO) and 6 losses.
