Ricardo Williams was a boxer who won a silver medal in the light-welterweight class at the 2000 Sydney Olympics. As an amateur he won the US Championship in 1998-99 and the 1998 National Golden Gloves, all as a light-welter.
A bright future was predicted for Williams, but it never materialized. Lack of training hurt him early in his career. Then in 2005 he was found guilty of a conspiracy to distribute cocaine and sentenced to three years in prison. He served 31 months of that sentence and resumed his pro career.
Williams fought through 2012 and had one bout in 2014. He fought Carson Jones for the USBA welterweight title in December 2011, but the fight was stopped in the fourth round after Jones had knocked Williams down three times.
