Bill Latimer competed in giant slalom for LW4 disability at the 1988 Calgary Winter Olympics, placing third. The LW4 category is mostly for athletes missing a lower limb below the knee. Latimer had been a top junior tennis player and played at the University of Utah. He broke his ankle in a skiing accident and had complications from that eventually resulted in a below knee amputation.
