Craig Ward was the guide skier for John Novotny in blind cross-country skiing at the 1988 Calgary Winter Olympics. Ward was a member of the US cross-country ski team from 1975-84. His best World Cup finish was 12th place in the 1983 30K in Sarajevo. He was also a member of the six-man World Championship teams in 1978 and 1982, in Lahti, Finland, and Oslo, Norway, respectively. He raced the 30K and 50K in Lahti, and the 15K and 50K in Oslo.
Ward later became a real estate broker in Aspen, Colorado. He has held numerous administrative, business, and service positions in Aspen. He headed the Professional Standards Committee of the Aspen Board of Realtors (ABOR), and was on the Scholarship Committee of ABOR. Ward served on the Aspen Valley Ski and Snowboard Board of Directors, was a 15-year member of the Aspen Rotary Club, the Executive Director of the Aspen Snowmass Nordic Council, a county-appointed trustee of the Pitkin County Open Space and Trails Board, and also served as the President of the Alfred Braun Hut System.
