Dick Buckingham also played hockey, football and rugby but his major achievements came in lacrosse. He started playing lacrosse at age 10 and won several junior championships. During the next 14 years, he played for several clubs in Winnipeg and was a finalist in the Eastern Canadian Senior Championships in 1926 and 1928. Buckingham captained the Canadian team that played in the 1932 Olympics. Buckingham was inducted into the Canadian Lacrosse Hall of Fame in 1977.
