Eino Kaakkolahti played Finnish baseball (pesapällo) when it was a demonstration sport at the 1952 Olympics in Helsinki. During his life he worked in various careers, serving on sports councils, working as a sports and cultural manager, inspector, recreational director, supervisor, and statistics officer. Kaakkolahti was a founding member of the Hongikko Athletes Youth Association and a founding and honorary member of the University of Jyväskylä Ski Club. He was also a life member of the Jyväskylä Kiri.
