Drescher was born in Venezuela and represented her native country in her youth, including winning the Junior Orange Bowl for under-14s in 1979. In the early 1980s she played professionally in Switzerland, gaining Swiss citizenship in the process. Drescher competed in the singles tournament at the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics when tennis was a demonstration sport. She reached the quarter-finals before losing to Raffaella Reggi-Concato of Italy. Later the same year Drescher won her only WTA Tour title with victory against Shawn Foltz at the Japan Open. During her career she played at all four Grand Slam tournaments, but never progressed further than the second round.
