Gus Shaver was the captain of the West Team at the 1932 Olympic demonstration, and scored what would be the winning touchdown. He played quarterback and fullback for Southern California from 1929-31 and was a consensus All-American in 1931.
Shaver returned to USC as an assistant football coach from 1940-45. He was later a salesman of construction equipment. In 1975, Shaver retired and moved to a ranch north of Fallbrook, California, where he and his wife, Stella, began raising oranges and tangerines.
