Biography
Al Closter was a left-handed pitcher who played for the USA at the 1964 Olympic demonstration baseball tournament. Closter played at Iowa State University, and was signed as a free agent by the New York Yankees before the 1965 season.
Closter started in the minors, but made it up to the majors in 1966 with the Washington Senators. He then drifted around the minor leagues until 1971 when he returned to the majors with the Yankees. He played with them in 1971-72 and played one final year of Major League ball with the Atlanta Braves in 1973. Closter had a career record of 2-2 with an ERA of 6.64. Closter is a member of the Syracuse Wall of Fame.
