Dick Griesser played in college at the University of Arizona. In 1955 he dropped out of ROTC Training and was immediately drafted and sent to Korea. While there he was selected to play on a US Army All-Star baseball team, and was then chosen to play with the USA at the 1956 Olympic demonstration baseball.
After the 1956 Melbourne Olympics, Griesser returned to Arizona, and led the Wildcats to the College World Series. He later became a coach and a teacher at Flowing Wells High School in Tucson, Arizona, which he did for over 30 years before retiring in 1988.
