Jim Hibbs played catcher for the USA at the 1964 Olympic demonstration baseball tournament. He played college baseball at Stanford University. Hibbs was drafted by the Los Angeles Dodgers in the third round of the 1966 Major League Baseball Draft.
Hibbs spent most of his professional career from 1966-73 in the minor leagues. He played for nine different teams in the minors, playing Triple-A ball from 1970-73. However, he did play 3 games in the Major Leagues with the California Angels in the spring of the 1967. Hibbs later authored two books on baseball, A Catcher’s Life__ and __Instant Baseball.
