Biography

Scott Servais was a catcher who played for the USA at the 1988 Olympic demonstration baseball tournament. Servais won three silver medals playing internationally for the US at the 1987 Pan American Games, the 1987 Intercontinental Cup, and the 1988 Intercontinental Cup. He played college ball at Creighton University, after which he was drafted in the third round of the 1988 Major League Baseball Draft by the Houston Astros.

Servais played 10 years of Major League baseball, mostly as a back-up catcher. He was with the Astros from 1991-95 and finished his career there in 2001. In the interim, he played with the Chicago Cubs from 1995-98, the San Francisco Giants in 1999 and 2000, and the Colorado Rockies in 2000. For his career he batted .245, with 63 home runs and 319 RBIs.

After his playing days ended, Servais worked as the assistant general manager of the Los Angeles Angels from 2011-15. In 2016 he was hired as the manager of the Seattle Mariners, a position he held in 2019.
