Biography

Mark Lewis competed in the 1988 bowling exhibition at the Seoul Olympic Games, placing sixth. Lewis bowled in college at Wichita State University, winning the intercollegiate title in 1980. In 1988 he also won the doubles and team at the ABC Tournament and won the National Amateur title. In 1989, he returned with Chilton Vending to win the team title and won a gold medal in trios and a silver medal in team in the 1989 FIQ American Zone Championships.

Lewis became the coach at Wichita State, the dominant power in US collegiate bowling. He led the Wichita State men to collegiate national titles in 1993, 2003, 2008-10 and 2015, and the women in 2005, 2007, and 2009. Lewis was inducted into the US Bowling Hall of Fame in 2004. He is also a member of the Wichita Sports Hall of Fame, the Wichita’s Men’s Bowling Hall of Fame, and the Kansas Men’s Bowling Hall of Fame.
